I can't wait to see Tilda Swinton's new movie, I Am Love.....
The shifting focus from reading the character's lips to reading the film itself. The symbolic role that food plays. The Raf Simons for Jil Sander wardrobe as a visual metaphor of character evolution. The crushingly beautifully landscape of Linguria. .................

burnout
One of the things I love about this jumper is the detail - sheer and fine. It is called the Burnout Sweater from Whistles. My current crush. The shorts are also from the same place. As usual, in trying to multitask, it was one of those days where I had to meet someone on a project I am working on in addition to taking a photo of this outfit to record it in my mind. The other reason I wanted to share this look is because I had a lot of compliments walking down the street. On a separate note, I will of course be sharing this 'project' with you once it is ready to be revealed. Very exciting.....

sssstttttrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiippppppeeessss!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I am officially crazy over stripes!!!! I cannot get enough of them at the moment. Like what Garance said on her blog recently (hers were about some lovely looking pumps); once you are on to something good, you want to be able to get as much of it as you can in BULK! This I agree with. I too have shoes in the same style, several different colours and two pairs of each. Guilty as charged. A classic, in everyone's term is personal. This is the point I am trying to drive home. You always want to look good and effortless. Stripes for me this season is it! I know that a lot of you have written to me recently requesting for more photos, and, I will happily oblige. (I must admit, you lot FAMBS are pretty demanding, but this is totally fun for me. Keep on writing!)

all i wanted was a headpiece with huge plumes of feathers
When I was putting this look together, all I could think was to don a dramatic Red Indian head piece. Don't ask me why, just how my mind works I guess. I suppose the other thing that probably crosses your mind is that I am possibly obsessed with stripes, non? Well, yes, but, this dress just happen to be a distraction. A basic distraction. I was trying to channel this 'hippie princess' look. Tsssk! Whatevs or ridic as some of you might say. Yes, I laugh too! It's fun to be playful, non? I also decided to pose by one of my favourite art pieces, which happens to be a series of prints which consists of butterfly wings. So intricate, delicate, so beautiful. The artist is Donna Ong who is based in Singapore. The last time I saw her exhibit it was titled Palace of Dreams (2004), a work involving intricate drawings of insects and a mahogany desk transformed into a plane, referencing fairy tales and childhood dreams. Flights of fantasy indeed.
I promised myself as a child
never to forget what it felt like to be a child
to dream and invest in the imaginary
The fantastic, the impossible

fringe me
I am totally crushing on this crazy fringe necklace by Roarke (the name pays homage to a shared fascination Laetitia Stanfield and Mignonne Gavigan have for Howard Roark of Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead). It all started when Mignonne cut off a piece of an embellished vintage dress and draped it about her neck. Not quite a necklace, not quite a scarf: they immediately decided they were on to something. Experimenting with various “unnatural combinations,” they are not afraid, to mix seemingly disparate elements.
I am already putting a styled look together in my head incorporating this Marcel necklace in the picture, of course!

crashing of the waves and ripples in the sand.......
I have been daydreaming about being by the beach again. Looking at some holiday photos has inspired me to think about how I'd be dressing for the beach this summer. Comfort and ease are key, and blue is of course a must to reflect the colour of the sea. The optional Breton stripes - because it reminds me a lot of scenes from the Coco avant Chanel film.

ringing in springtime
The weather has been lovely of late. The sun shining, flowers blooming. I decided to play around with outfits and this top from the new H&M Garden collection. How apt? Well, there was no pun intended but I was definitely having fun and definitely feeling the colour coral a the very moment.
Bonne weekend! XO

solo in her shoes
Do you remember me blogging about my friend Daisy not too long ago? Well, it was back in October last year when I was (and still am) crushing over her Coco Paris bottle.
This time around, you can catch her show located on the 4th Floor of Liberty, featuring 40 brand new works. The show is inspired by street style and everyday culture featured in portraits, clothing and fashion accessories – the bits and pieces of her life.
More exciting news in the addition to this is the launch of Daisy’s own label D de V London. Liberty will be launching Daisy’s first range of D de V London luxury scented candles. The collection of candles named “Daisy Rose”, feature four different scents, all rooted in the Rose family, Daisy’s favourite flower. The four candles each feature separate artwork - Tuberose, features a handbag motif, Violet Rose and Vetiver features a necklace (totally adorable!), Herbal Rose features a perfume bottle (très,très joli) with the new D de V London graphic and the more masculine Rose Incense and Cedar features a retro suitcase. The candles come in sumptuous dark red glass with dark red coloured wax. What more can a girl ask for?

Eco-futurism meets classical antiquity in this breathtaking underwater shoot from Vogue Nippon. This enchanting and ethereal shoot by Sølve Sundsbø styled by George Cortina takes on a life of its own in this underwater setting.
Carrying on the theme which Alexander McQueen brought to life with his Spring 2010 'Plato's Atlantis' collection Alla Kostromicheva stars as the girl from the lost underwater world. McQueen's futuristic, reptilian pieces of course feature heavily in the shoot, along with those from the likes of Versace, Miu Miu and Balmain.

do you see it the way i do?
Viewing these works, blew me away recently. Claire Morgan is an Irish visual artist who specialises in working in a repetitive and intensely precise way with natural materials such as fruit, leaves, and elements of taxidermy to transform the chaos of nature into unnatural calmness.
Morgan’s sculptural material is ordinary, familiar and everyday, but is transfigured through the rigor of formal composition into a mysterious melancholic meditation.
This month you can see her work at the Portobello Road Arts Project in London. Do go if you can…

boogie woogie
This is totally incredible and mind-boggling! A 9 and a half minute piano marathon! I got to know about Ben Waters (wish I could play like him! Whoa!) through Tommy Hare. Crazy story - we met while playing virtual golf. Random. Tommy is also a musician, talented, with a raspy singing voice, passionate about jazz and rock and roll. We chatted a lot about music and Oscar Peterson whom we both happen to like as well as various other jazz greats. It was real fun and by the end of the evening I ended up with a written note on my left arm serving as a reminder from Tommy to check out the album featuring Oscar and Sonny Stitt (A Jazz Odyssey). Well, my favourite track of all - ' I can't give you anything but love'
Tommy, I didn't forget but most of all good luck with the album!

coda to adage
This dress, from one of my U.S. FAMBs reminded me so much of dance and dancing. Ballet was the centre of my universe for the best part of my early life. 13 years spent dancing and performing were one of my best memories. Music and dance are still very much my passion and love, although now, my liking is less classical and more contemporary. The days of doing pliés and demi-pointes has definitely served me good, and I do hope to keep on dancing, dancing through life, for the rest of my life!

and most of all I will not grow up
Well, it is that time - festival time!!! Am so in the mood for Caochella this year, but sadly won't be able to make it. Darn it. So, this is just a snap shot of how I would've been or felt if I were going....... But all the same, I hope the sun will be shining here too, like Frank said....
I needed you here to be my sunshine in London town.
California's had more than it's fair share.
You left me to these small skies, and to rain-soaked concrete,
To Morrissey and Robert Smith and complicated streets....

To honor the Universal Exhibition in Shanghai, Chanel is launching a collection inspired by la belle ville. This beautiful homage will certainly get the attention of the young Shanghainese socialites. The limited-edition collection includes bracelets, necklaces, handbags and earrings in hues of red and jade green. From delicate doll earrings to dragon cuffs (complete with the intertwining Chanel logo, bien sûr!) it’s difficult to choose a favorite...OK, not really, the Chanel-inspired Chinese take-out boxes are clear winners. If only our xiao long bao came in a carry-all comme ça!
