fireworks at musée galliera

This to me is what couture is all about... the grandeur, the vastness, the explosion of ideas and dreams.......in this world, there are no limitations.

This was the scene from the dramatic finale of the Paris Fall 2011 Couture Week festivities. A black-tie soiree at the Grand Trianon at Versailles, where the Musée Galliera, one of the city’s two great fashion and costume museums (the other is the Musée de la Mode et du Textile, one of the decorative arts museums of the Louvre), presented the exhibition “Le XVIII au Goût du Jour,” exploring the enduring influence of eighteenth-century style on couturiers and designers from Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain to Vivienne Westwood, Christian Lacroix, and Nicolas Ghesquière.
