daydreaming: a roman holiday

What could you be daydreaming about as fashion week draws to a close? Moi? Well, definitely warmer climes. It has been a very icy and chilly winter every major fashion week city this year. With the new trends welcoming back the tailoring trend and all that is romantic about it - the silhouette that it cuts on a woman's body, I am inspired. Like that of a cinematographer passionate about a film's story setting......

Fifty miles north of New York City, on 150 acres in the lush lower Hudson Valley, Glenmere is the spectacular Tuscan-style estate built 100 years ago by one of America’s richest families, the Goelets, whose New York real-estate holdings at the time were bested only by those of the Astors. The Italianate gardens at Glenmere were especially notable, designed by Beatrix Jones Farrand, whose credits included the extraordinary gardens at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C., and those of the Huntington Library in Southern California. The house itself, designed by Carrère & Hastings architects, is also impressive with its large central courtyard and its marble-columned loggias and porticoes. Now, carefully following the original architectural plans and landscape designs, both the historic mansion and gardens have been restored. The result is a luxurious hotel with nineteen rooms and suites, most with fireplaces, all tastefully decorated with antiques and contemporary pieces as well as art from a private collection by New York and Palm Beach designer Scott Snyder. An idyllic getaway, Glenmere is strategically situated for visiting nearby Hudson Valley attractions that include out-of-the-way antiques shops, monumental outdoor art at the 500-acre Storm King Art Center, and contemporary paintings and sculptures at Dia: Beacon.

Therefore, I will definitely be packing under the influence of Prada's Bardot-esque influence for day, Fendi's lush accessories to compliment and Lanvin's contemporary shaped jackets and dresses.
