recline - acne

Now you can not only slip into a pair of denim Acne skinnies, but then fall into the newest creation from Acne founder Jonny Johansson: Acne furniture! Johansson is keeping schtum in terms of what to expect, but he did divulge that his icon is mid-century Swedish design wunderkind, Carl Malmsten. The nature of these hand-crafted pieces sums up the handy crafting movement and its simplicity and quality. Johansson’s foray into furniture is not entirely out of left field, as he actually began his design career in the furniture realm. For now we have to dream up what the pieces will look like, but take a peek at images from Malmsten’s furniture and pieces from the Acne Spring 2010 line.

gentiluomo elegante

This is a sneak peek at some of the very first photos to be released of the Prada Menswear Spring/Summer 2010 campaign, as shot by Hedi Slimane. Since leaving Dior Homme, Slimane seamlessly slipped into fashion photography, teaming up with for the first time Prada last year; this photo shoot marks the third collaboration for Slimane and the fashion house, and we hope not the last. The male models make tightrope walking look so effortless!

skinny love

Come on skinny love just last the year, Pour a little salt, we were never here, My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer, I tell my love to wreck it all, Cut out all the ropes and let me fall, My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer

I told you to be patient, I told you to be fine, And I told you to be balanced, And I told you to be kind

In the morning I'll be with you, But it will be a different kind, I'll be holding all the tickets, And you'll be owning all the fines, Come on skinny love what happened here, We suckled on the hope in lite brassieres
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, Sullen load is full, so slow on the split

And I told you to be patient, And I told you to be fine, And I told you to be balanced, And I told you to be kind
And now all your love is wasted

And who the hell was I?, I'm breaking at the bridges, And at the end of all your lines, Who will love you?, Who will fight?, Who will fall far behind?, Ooh, ooh

one thousand and one nights

Well, isn't this fun, this is meant as a fashion pun, ok. So you can breathe a sigh of relief now.
Obviously we all know that the trend of the harem pant in every shape and form - from contemporary to the downright dramatic has been done this season, including joggers, which has also been 'harem-ed'.

Anyway, I purchased this pair some time ago when it first came out. It feels super comfortable. This idea is meant to be fun, again. The thought that came to mind when I saw these trousers were - 1001 nights a
collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian stories and folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age. I wanted to try the original idea of how they were worn and described in those tales, with my own interpretation to wear this look now. So, since everybody is down-sizing on their accessories and keeping the look really sporty and grown up, I have gone for the drama and bling-tastic accessories. A girl can never have too many bangles on her arm (disclaimer: they all have to be a fashion match obviously - otherwise don't bother) and, mahussive earrings and rings! Am in the earrings phase, they are my current 'thing' now. So you will see more, as fashion week prevails.

conversations about Mr Penn

One of the most important American artists of the twentieth century, he had the simplicity of greatness. To me Mr Penn is remarkable; I have been a great fan and always am in awe of his work. His images are phenomenally penetrating and focused; compassionate but not sentimental. His images have appeared in American Vogue magazine in a steady stream since the forties right up to the sliced bananas in August's issue last year. His images also remind us that nothing is safe of lasting, but more importantly to serve as a reminder to celebrate life's wonder.

Privately, Mr Penn led a fulfilling life. Like his work, simplistic and full of integrity. The singular most important thing was his relationship with his wife Lisa. She was his soul mate, lover and artistic collaborator for 42 years. She was Swedish born and a great beauty. Mr Penn had the prodigious luck to meet up with his ideal woman, and the
prodigious bad luck to outlive her. This makes me ponder on the passages of life. What it means, how we have lived, loved and how we have impacted others around us.

Mr Penn changed the way we saw the world and, in particular, our perception of what is beautiful. What would your legacy be?

mustard & fries

Fries, frites, french fries. Just fries... am obsessed by these yummy, golden, crispy fried potato sticks! Great when they are just dusted with salt, dunked in ketchup or mustard, coated with cheese, the list is endless. They're delicious! Anyway, with the weather being so icy cold, one cannot help but want to snack on comfort food most of the time. It so happens that this particular evening called for a snack before a film. Fries on the cards, we just happened to chance on the nearest diner -ish joint to chow down on some. Something about this 50's looking, good 'ol American diner that seems to still pull in the crowds. The music is ever reminiscent of that era. And what of the film? Well, Miss Taylor-Wood's Nowhere Boy of course!

Coco a Go-Go - eat that!

“An iconoclast meets the icon of class.” –Karl Lagerfeld
Upping the ante on plus size - V Magazine's Size Issue. The Keiser again intends to shock (or maybe not!). The irony of it all! Miss Dirty Martini has made a living out of making an entrance. And sure enough, the burlesque star's mad, late-night spin around the Chanel atelier ended up blowing the roof off of 31 Rue Cambon. Coco would definitely be spinning in her twinset, if she wasn't part of the show. Shock-factor indeed!Pfffff!

say hello to.....my little furry friends

Faux, faux, faux!!! My thoughts exactly! Everybody seems to have it or seems to don it one way or another. When it comes to this, faux or not, I cannot help but think - banshee lookalike, Ali G in a larger than life faux fur 'bleh' jacket and grilz....., Dr. Evil! Yes, random, but Dr. Evil!

However, one of these jackets I acquired some time ago gave me the push recently, upon unearthing it at the bottom of my closet to experiment and try out some looks. Found it in a thrift shop. Wait a minute, you must be thinking, the faux gilet is NOT. Well yes, quite.... it is not. It's from Zara! So, here I share with you two of my furry friends (should they be given pet names??!) in a sort of an ode to Studio 54 meets 2010 interpretation and the other, just a girl about town kinda thang. Does it make you feel fuzzy and/or furry?

Disclaimer: No animals were injured / harmed in the making of post.

Champagne was flowing all night and the music, well suffice to say I was on my feet all night long! What a party!! Have an awesome New Year's Day everyone!

Special shout out to Becky for making me look like a superstar with the gorgeous makeover! x
