tendance: noir et blanc
The former Dior Homme designer has spent the last several years shooting disaffected youth in L.A. Even sunny California couldn't’t brighten up Slimane’s trademark moody images, shot mostly in black and white. Now in another creative issue of Man About Town, Slimane captures the artistic community in Los Angeles, not the well-known Hollywood side, but rather the subcultures, something like a tribute to ‘indie California'. Enjoy.

exposed precision
These pictures are amazingly precise, and well exposed in a minute space with no perspective. These images are as monumental as the infinitely small details they reveal thanks to a scanner taken in Theirry's vehicle, where he was able to capture a natural universe in black and white where aging is a renaissance.

vast forms
These images have caught my attention and literally blown me away. Visiting Thandi's recent showcase at Tapestry, the gallery on Frith Street has made me want to talk about his work for a long time. He has dedicated much of his career to studio-based still life and portraiture, so to venture into the great outdoors like the last picutre of the ocean is definitely a vast body of work.
The images from his Vast collection capturing various landscapes from Europe and North America like the view at 4,078m, Schreckhorn - the highest peak in the Berne region presiding the Upper Grindewalk Glacier is truly surreal.
Enjoy!

gentle silhouettes
I love this collection by Carin Rodebjer. I cannot wait to be able to get my hands on these pieces. A Swedish native, Carin has combined that very stylish and minimal approach coupled by the NYC aesthetic having had a stint living there and studying at the famous FIT.
The kind of people I admire have a timeless quality, and that’s also how I want my collections to feel,” Carin explains.
Timelessness and gentleness - these words come to mind when you view these graceful images.

gentlemanliness
Tom Ford’s five easy lessons in how to be a modern gentleman, taken from Jefferson Hack’s intimate conversation via www.AnOtherMag.com:
1. You should put on the best version of yourself when you go out in the world because that is a show of respect to the other people around you.
2. A gentleman today has to work. People who do not work are so boring and are usually bored. You have to be passionate, you have to be engaged and you have to be contributing to the world.
3. Manners are very important and actually knowing when things are appropriate. I always open doors for women, I carry their coat, I make sure that they’re walking on the inside of the street. Stand up when people arrive at and leave the dinner table.
4. Don’t be pretentious or racist or sexist or judge people by their background.
5. A man should never wear shorts in the city. Flip-flops and shorts in the city are never appropriate. Shorts should only be worn on the tennis court or on the beach.

Creative Director Tomas Maier Lends His Night Vision to the Brand’s Mysterious New Film
A meditation on the romance of travel, the anonymity of hotel life and clandestine bedtime
rituals, this premiere marks Bottega Veneta’s debut foray into fashion films.
Shot at New York’s Setai Hotel with an original score by Austin-based chamber-pop band Balmorhea, Viaggio Notturno (Night Journey) stars models Patricia van der Vliet and Terron Wood and highlights signature designs from Bottega Veneta’s permanent collection, including its Marco Polo hard-case luggage, woven leather Cabat bag and sleeping mask.

kawaii murakami
Takashi Murakami held court last fall at the Château de Versailles, filling the historic chambers with a landmark exhibit of his distinctive Japanese Pop Art. That riotous explosion of color was echoed on the runways in Paris this past season, and no doubt many of those designers paid a visit to the château for inspiration. Murakami Versailles (Editions Xavier Barral) documents all 22 works that were on display, seven of which were being shown for the very first time. Of all the brilliant manga sculptures in the collection, the “Flower Matango” (above left) in the Galerie de Glaces—or hall of mirrors—was perhaps the most impressive.

all you would ever want
The tones of blush that welcomes spring and the transgression towards deeper, brighter colours;, the details in how each person translates the changing of the season, slowly but surely. It seems like a little evolution taking place in your own wardrobe. A bag, a beautiful silk blouse, a bracelet, items that you inevitably wear for a few days, a fortnight are all changing constantly. Changing tastes. Simple everyday pleasures in the smallest of details. Photos via jak&jil blog
